Alternatives to Turbo and Multistage Centrifugal Blowers

Do you have an overbudget project? Do you have concerns about the turndown capability of your aeration system? Do you just want another option to consider for your aeration needs? We can help! We can provide blower systems that have low power consumption and low cost! The paragraphs below address the benefits of our alternate system, concerns about using an alternate system, and how we provide solutions to those concerns. There is also a link to a case study for a project where we helped re-start construction after progress was halted due to lack of funding. More will be added as we gather the information for those cases. The important thing to remember when considering an alternative blower system is to keep an open mind! There are alternatives available but you have to be open to that possibility and toss aside preconceived notions about blowers!

BENEFITS AFFORDED BY AN ALTERNATIVE BLOWER SYSTEM:

Similar power draws. It is a common misconception that turbo and multistage centrifugal blowers are the best option 100% of the time when energy consumption is the main concern. We have provided aeration systems that meet the specified power consumption requirements while significantly reducing the initial expense to the owner.

Simplified Controls. UBP's alternate blower system would not require control systems to prevent surge conditions. Many controls that do not enhance the process could be eliminated due to the nature of the equipment.

Increased Flexibility. The nature of the helical PD blower allows for increased operating ranges. The robust design coupled with the reduced complexity enables the proposed alternate package to be used effectively at all design points specified including any added in the future. If your needs change, the proposed alternate package can change by merely reprogramming the controls rather than a total system refit. The alternate blower system is energy efficient at multiple design points.

Robust Machine. This blower systems utilizes proven technology that is ideal for a variable process. The resulting package is a variable flow, variable pressure machine that can handle any aeration application whether it be wastewater or pneumatic conveying!

Quiet. Our Attenu-Pac enclosure provides sound attenuation that will keep most blower systems beneath 75 dBa

Rebuttal

Turbo and centrifugal blowers offer more control over an aeration system

Our blower systems provide an exacting measure of control with a minimum of feedback requirements. Additionally, there is no need to protect against surge as that condition is not applicable to our equipment.

Turbo and centrifugal blowers are always more efficient.

This may be the case when comparing outdated dual lobe systems that are belt driven. Our alternative system utilizes energy efficient blowers that are driven without v-belts. Our configuration results in much lower power consumption for the system and enables us to provide an energy efficient system comparable to a well designed turbo or centrifugal solution.
